Belfast Music Stories at The Harrison
Discover our UNESCO City of Music in Comfort!
Join Dolores and Melanie in the comfortable surroundings of The Harrison hotel to enjoy an engaging new music experience, that combines storytelling, music, and hospitality to offer a novel way to explore the rich music heritage of Belfast - the only designated UNESCO City of Music on the island. Located in the Queen’s Quarter of Belfast, the intimate experience comprises an engaging ‘virtual’ Belfast music tour, followed by an exclusive guided tour of several of the hotel’s uniquely-themed rooms.
Guests will settle down with a complimentary soft drink, in the comfortable surroundings of The Harrison, a character-filled Victorian building, to enjoy a ‘virtual’ music tour. Experienced tour guide and music specialist, Dolores will share stories of some of the legendary musicians and historic music moments of Belfast - the only recognised UNESCO City of Music on the island. Visitors will hear audio and see video clips of performances by a range of great artists.
The experience continues with a guided tour led by Melanie, the hotel proprietor, giving guests exclusive access to a number of uniquely themed rooms. Rooms have been specially dedicated to artists across a range of genres - including Van Morrison, Led Zeppelin, Ruby Murray, Valentine Rennie and Ottilie Patterson. In each room, memorabilia and design have been carefully curated by Melanie to celebrate each artist and also reveal connections between Belfast and global music culture. All of the artists a room is dedicated to will feature in the music presentation.
Dynamic, engaging and fun, the 90-minute tour will conclude in the hotel’s striking Napoleon’s Nose, where visitors may choose to linger to enjoy the hospitality of The Harrison.
The scheduled tours take place once a month on a Sunday 12-1.30pm.
